Product Description
Sisal is a slender, hard, cellular strand of fiber that has demonstrated its great strength and tough resiliency in the form of binder twine, cord & rope for many years. These qualities, along with its natural abrading and grease absorbing characteristics, provide an ideal buffing wheel fabric. Sisal buffing wheels will provide both polishing and cutting action. They will remove stretcher strains, orange peel, polishing wheel grit lines, light die marks, etc. To effect a fast cut, use a sisal wheel with the Black Emery compound.Safety Information

Makes for a quick, effective cutting aciton.
I purchased an 8 x 1/2" sisal for use to quick-cut some cast aluminum, and they work great using black emery. While I really think for my application that greaseless compound should have been used, admittedly I forgot to buy some. So with a bit of experimentation with pressure and amount of compound, I am pleased to say that the larger sisal's work great with emery for a quick cut. Now, they WILL scratch aluminum, they are a very course wheel (in comparison to cotton). So expect to have scratches after using a sisal wheel with hard pressure. This is normal, you would follow up with emery again on a soft buff, or go straight to brown compound/aluminum if you wish. If you're starting with sisal, if you skip straight to white compound you'll be sorry. Follow up your sisal work with a spiral sewn (or treated spiral) to eliminate the -sisal- scratches first. Enjoy!
