Buffing Compound Aluminum Polishing Kit Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheel Wheel Rake Free How To Buff and Polish Booklet Buffing Wheel & Compound Kits The main purpose of a loose cotton wheel is to polish and cut in a similar manner to the Spiral sewn wheel, except that this wheel, not being tightly stitched together, will 'mush' or collapse, allowing the cotton to get into awkward places more easily. If you have an object with fine details and awkward crevices, then this is the wheel to use. Because you will be unable to exert pressure which slows down other harder wheels, you should consider putting LARGER loose cotton wheels on your buffer. This will increase the surface speed, improving the overall finish and the time involved. For example, on a 1/4hp motor, @ 3450rpm, you can safely put up an 8" wheel x 1/4" thick. On a 1/3rd hp motor, 10" x 1/2" thick, on 1/2hp motor 8" x 1" thick. 3/4hp motor can carry several 12" wheels. Use with any compound.

Easy buffing of contours
I'm in love with these loose cotton wheels (10"). I bought three with a recent order, one for black, brown, and white. I loaded the first with brown, not thinking about using emery. Well... that was a mistake! I loaded one up with the black compound, to see what I could achieve. Amazing results, is what I got. Gets into the places that other wheels simply can't get into, especially at the larger size. You can't really do a heavy CUT with these, they simply buckle under pressure. Leave the the quick cuts for a spiral sewn or sisal wheel. But with a little more time, these manage to get into the nooks and crannies that you would otherwise give up and break out the dremel. I might have to buy another 3 of these in the future, so I can load up two at a time and run 1" wide soft buffs with each compound. Works like a champ!
