Plethora of awesomesauce.
For somebody that's starting out and isn't quite sure about everything they will need, this is the first place you need to start. Every compound you'll likely ever use (Unless you go the plastic route) is right here in the pack. Black to cut, brown to polish, white to make you require sunglasses, blue to give you retinal damage, and the red will suit the wife's jewelry just fine. The green (stainless) I actually gave to a friend, since I had no stainless pieces to buff at the time. He said it works great on stainless trim. I took his word for it, and bought myself a bar of it to do the trim pieces on my Datsun. The jumbo bars will probably last the casual user a couple of years. The black goes the fastest, so if you plan on doing a lot of cutting, grab this pack and an extra jumbo black bar and you'll be safe. The black goes the fastest, because it's the coarsest of the bunch, you use it the most for cutting, and it's a bit greasier than the others. It gets everywhere, but washes off nicely. (Emery in your eyes, not good - wear eye protection.) The large bar will work for somebody that doesn't expect to use their buffer much, but the jumbo bar is future proof and as long as you take care of them, they won't go bad. I keep mine in their cardboard sleeves, and a high pressure wipe with a microfiber to clear away metal debris from what I'm working on.

Great Product BUT: Note On Purchasing Limited Option
I have found that the Caswell Standard Compounds are terrific for maintaining a very sharp edge on all of my woodcarving tools, knives, chisels etc. The ones I use are the White, Green & Blue . The blue is especially good for a touch up & final finish. Thanks for a great product.
