Product Description
Caswell Electrocleaning Kit
Electrocleaning is a highly effective and fast way of cleaning parts prior to plating. It will remove oils, rust, grease and even paint.
The part to be cleaned is hung into the cleaning solution and then connected to the POSITIVE side of the power supply, becoming the Anode.
The GP Plates (included) are connected to the negative side, becoming the cathode.
DC current is then supplied to the system. Current rates are approx 10-15 Amps per Square Foot of part surface area.
Cleaning will take between 30 seconds to two minutes.
After cleaning, the part should be rinsed and given a waterbreak test to check for cleanliness before moving on to plating.
Our 3 Gallon Electrocleaning Kit contains:
- 1 x 3.5 Gal Tank and Lid
- 2lb Electrocleaner (Makes 4 Gallons total - you will have extra)
- 2 x 12" x 12" GP Plates
- Copper Pipe for tank bar
- Copper Part Hanging Wire
- Power Connecting Leads, to connect the anode and cathodes to a power source.
Note that the kit does not contain a DC power source. Please choose one based on the size of the parts you will be plating.
For example:
- 5" x 5" Sheet of Steel = 50 sq in total, which is 0.35 sq ft. At 10 ASF, you would need 3.5 amps
- 12" x 12" Sheet Of Steel (about the largest you can clean with this kit) = 2 sq ft, which would need 20 amps.
Recommended Skill Level
Beginner level products can and should be used by anybody, including those who consider themselves not crafty, handy or hands on. Most beginner level products can be used out of the box and can expect results within minutes. It is always important to read the product instructions and description on the web site before use, for example, nearly all of our plating kits require a polished and clean surface before plating.
