Copy Cad & Zinc Concentrate 1.5 Gal

Seems to work well. Had a few issues, but tech support helped get better results. Can’t get the parts looking like chrome, even with the brightener. I’m chromating these parts, and I’m getting decent results, but can only imagine the chromate would be brighter, if the zinc plating is brighter.

I purchased the COPY CAD & ZINC CONCENTRATE 1.5 gal. to add as a tool for my Vintage Dirt Bike restoration hobby. I have tried other Zinc plating methods, formula's and Technics with poor to fair results. This is not the case with the Casewell kit. Imagine my enthusiasm when I pulled my first part out of the tank that was as shiny as a new nickel. When you are restoring something you are generally your worst critic and on occasion retiring for the night felling you were not at your best. Well, that felling is long gone when I am plating parts with the Casewell kit. The variety of other plating kits and support will keep me as a continued customer.

The COPY CAD & ZINC CONCENTRATE 1.5 GAL does exactly what it is advertised to do, nice predictable quality. I bought this concentrate to increase my tank solution volume. I have enjoyed the plating journey so far. I am still learning. Made a drum tumbler with a rotisserie motor, a perforated salad bowl, PVC tubing, monster wire, and a contact finger. The Caswell plating solution makes plating super easy. Prep is king, clean parts perfectly by degreasing and tanking then in a hot Caswell degreaser. Use rinse water between stages to avoid cross contamination by accidentally dragging solution to next station. Proper heat helps as does aeration. Honestly, a constant current low voltage rectifier makes it easy to control plating process, I just snagged one recently.I had been using a hacked cheapy battery charger transformer and diode pack and a hair dryer's heating element as a rheostat for current control. The Caswell brightener helps make bolts look factory fresh. I'll be posting pictures of one of the Triumphs soon.

End result looks awesome! There is a bit of a learning curve, and prep work is key with this stuff. Do the prep properly, and you'll get great results. Even if you're a bit lazy with the prep and try to plate some rough looking parts, they'll still come out looking pretty good as long as you follow the process in the manual. To the people who said that as the chemicals age the results get worse: I don't think it's the chemicals. The zinc anodes get a bit hazy over time. If you soda blast the anodes few batches it keeps them plating like new. Also filter the plating bath through cheese cloth into another bucket when it gets a bit dirty will keep it clean and plating like the 1st time.

This is my second order of the CopyCad & Zinc. I got the original kit and have just expanded by ordering additional concentrate to grow my plating tank to a larger size. Doing auto restorations these kits are a real saver compared to having to send out the parts.

I've been buying this set for about 5 years. Bought about 10 of these. When the chemicals are new they work fine, but as they age I have nothing but problems, hence the repeated reorders. Nothing else around like this so I have no choice but to go back again and again.

Bought 2 of these to build up my own small Zinc plating line... Used the directions in the Plating Manual for excellent results... Will be a repeat customer for sure !

Excellent imitation on cad , easy to use. Prep work is the key to a good finish.
