Our NEW formula gives more consistent, brighter zinc plating, much faster plating times and better chromating results.
Now, Copy Cad® AND Zinc plating in one kit. By simply adding a special brightener to the solution, the normally dull, flat, whitish look of Copy Cad® is transformed into a commercial quality bright zinc plate. After use, the bath reverts back to the original Cadmium look.
This simple system is designed to give professional results without a complicated 'chemistry set'. The kit comes with an Abrasive wheel which provides a 'flat' finish to the metal for Copy Cad® .
These kits are designed to provide a professional zinc finish to a variety of substrates on small components such as workshop tools, brake boosters, brackets and zinc alloy carburetor castings.
Zinc plating is a most valuable tool when used in combating corrosion of steel. The zinc corrodes before the steel does, sacrificing itself for the benefit of the steel. A metallurgical bond is formed between the zinc and steel forming an iron rich alloy with tenacious bond. Galvanizing can be left unpainted where it will form its own protective oxide layer.
The system operates at 70 deg F, and 0.14 amps per square inch of part surface area. A 20 minute plating time is sufficient for most applications, including chromating.
After zinc plating, parts can be dipped in a variety of chromates to give color and increased corrosion resistance.

Recommended Skill Level
Beginner level products can and should be used by anybody, including those who consider themselves not crafty, handy or hands on. Most beginner level products can be used out of the box and can expect results within minutes. It is always important to read the product instructions and description on the web site before use, for example, nearly all of our plating kits require a polished and clean surface before plating.

easy to use and understand instructions!
I have never done any type of plating , but always wanted to. I am amazed at how easy it is to have great results by just following directions in the manual !

Great Product
This kit yields great results. After not using it for over 3 years I plated a number of parts and it works as good as it did when I first ordered it. If you use the zinc brightener correctly it looks almost like chrome. Great product!

Great product but overpriced. $40 manual is overkill.
Plating kit is great, but overpriced. Gives good results (zinc), but why 100+ page $40 instruction manual when only 2 pages relevant to zinc? Slow to ship kit but it was over New Year period. But they don't respond to email, and placed on hold for ages on the phone. 5 stars for the product and 1 star for customer service.

Excellent product. Relatively easy to use.
This is my second copy cad system. It worked better than ever due to some additional products provided (degreaser and brightener). My first items turned out great. My customer thought they were new.

Excellent System
The platting system works very well. I had excellent results the first time, and every time. BUT, proper preparation of the material is key and a power source with controllable current is very helpful if not essential.

works as advertised
having used an Eastwood plating kit last year, this is head and shoulders better. I test plated a piece of steel, threw it out into a snow bank. It got rained on, pee'd on, three months later still no hint of rust!
