Steel requires a strike coat before it can be plated
with other finishes.
Use our Stainless Steel Activator product
with a nickel anode in an electroplating system.
To activate stainless steel:
- Mix up 1 gallon of distilled water, 1 pint of muriatic
acid and 1 bag of Stainless Steel Activator.
- Etch with a 50/50 mix of muriatic acid and distilled
water. (Always add acid to water to avoid acid splashes)
- Plate the part in the Stainless Steel Activator
solution, with a nickel anode for one minute at room
temperature. Use 1 amp per 15 square inches of surface
area.
The process is detailed in our Complete Plating Manual. |
