| Caswell
Inc. is proud to be a distributor for Tech Line Coatings
products.
 |
Tech Line products allow virtually anyone
to benefit from advanced coating technology. Easy simple
application, using common equipment, allows the enthusiast
to duplicate the results achieved by professional shops.
Coatings offered are either air drying or if requiring
baking, utilize water as the solvent. This user friendly
approach means that no "smelly" or toxic fumes
are released during oven baking. |
Tech Line Coatings Are broken down into
5 categories:

Specialty
Coatings
Turbo X
 |
These air drying coatings were
developed specifically for Turbo applications.
These are made with very high temperature
stable pigments as well as ceramics for increased
thermal barrier function. They are solvent
based and available in 8oz containers. The
coating is available in Black and Blue.
APPLICATION: Sandblast all parts with 120 grit aluminum oxide. DO NOT USE GLASSBEAD. Clean metal using conventional cleaning methods, with acetone, lacquer thinner or other similar non-petroleum based solvent. When the surface is clean and dry, apply a thin even layer of coating using an airbrush, detail touch-up gun or other spray equipment that allows for application of a thin film of approximately .001" to .0015". Avoid excessive build-up of material as this can lead to loss of adhesion. DO NOT APPLY A SECOND COAT AFTER THE COATING DRIES. The coating will air dry to the touch in a few minutes. Install on vehicle, as the coating will cure with exaust heat. CAUTION: Excessive exhaust heat due to a poorly tuned engine can damage the coating during the cure period. Do not install on a new engine untill all adjustments have been made to the valves, timing and jetting. Allow the engine to idle, or drive gently for approximately 30 minutes or until no vapor/smoke is given off by the coating. MAINTAIN adequate ventilation during this process. |

Cilgen LTC
Add Brilliance colors To Cilgen LTC to achieve an anodized look that's tougher than anodized coatings!
LTC is a clear ceramic coating capable of providing extremely high levels of corrosion and chemical protection in very thin films. When properly applied LTC will withstand substrate temperatures of over 450f. LTC will dry in approximately 1 hr, to the touch, air cure over a minimum period of 24 hours for full handling characteristics. The coating achieves maximum characteristics in 7 days. LTC is solvent based with a very low V.O.C. LTC may also be pigmented to achieve special effects.
RECOMMENDED USES:
LTC is primarily designed as a clear top coat. It has good adhesion to virtually all metals and some plastics a well as to most coatings manufactured by Tech Line. LTC may be applied to a polished surface. Designed for single coat coverage, though multi coat applications will increase gloss levels. An excellent coating for Alloy Wheels, Polished components and is especially effective over Liqui-Powder.
SURFACE PREPARATION: All parts must be absolutely free of all oils, grease, moisture, dust, scale or corrosion.
METALS: May be applied to a clean dry surface. No etching required.
FINAL CLEAN: Before spraying the part must be thoroughly cleaned using air blast, hot water rinse, solvent base rinse, or any other method that provides a clean dry surface. DO NOT USE petroleum based solvents.
SPRAY: Apply coating in a single light pass (approximately 20% overlap) to achieve a thickness of .0005". DO NOT attempt to apply a thick coat in one application. Thicker coats require a dry period between applications. Use sufficient air volume for correct operation of equipment. (Minimum 30 PSI) Minimum air, coating and part temperature should be 65f, if below warm up part and coating. Spray at a right angle to part with a 1mm or smaller nozzle size. Spray all irregular surfaces and edges first, making an extra pass later. Check part for complete coverage.
SPRAY GUN & Mfr.: Any conventional unit. Recommended gravity feed type touch-up gun. (Important that nozzle size be 1mm or less)
DRYING TIME: Depends on temperature and humidity.
FINAL CURE: Air curing. Cure for full handling characteristics requires 24 hours minimum at temperatures
above 18C / 65F. Full cure is achieved in 7 days. |

Brilliance Colors

Cilgen™ Brilliance Colors are designed to be mixed into Cilgen™ Brilliance LTC Clear, to create translucent colors for various effects in a highly durable, UV, scratch and abrasion resistant coating.
Mix with Cilgen LTC at the rate of 2-5% by volume (1 fl oz color per 32 fl oz clear) for a translucent look, or 10% by volume for a solid look. Application Instructions (75kb PDF) are available.
By mixing colorants together, it's possible to create any color imaginable for your coating. |
Engine
Oil Additives
ULTRAGARD
 |
UltraGard is a high pressure engine oil additive.
Rather than treating the oil or treating the
ferrous metals parts, UltraGard puts sub micron
Moly in suspension. The lubricants are capable
of carrying loads in excess of 350,000 psi.
In addition the lubricating particles are
attracted to heat and migrate to areas of
high friction and load. UltraGard does not
require that a full bottle be added with each
oil change. Generally one bottle treats 6
quarts of oil and the next three oil changes
will only require 1/3 bottle. |
Liquid-Powder
 |
Turn Powder Coating Into a Sprayable Liquid with Liquid-Powder
Powder coating is a popular method of protecting and enhancing the appearance of a part. It is a very "Green" technology and the use of this technology is expanding. However there are some applications where the use of Powder Coating is difficult if not impossible. It has a fair bond to metallic substrates, though the powder is easily damaged prior to baking. Powder Coating of non metallic surfaces is extremely difficult. In addition complex shapes, deep depressions, voids or holes cannot be evenly coated. Generally it is also not possible to multi coat using traditional Powder Coating methods.
This situation has been dramatically changed with the introduction of the Liqui-Powder technology by Tech Line. Now virtually any powder can be mixed in to the Liquid-Powder carrier and sprayed as conventional water based paint. The type of substrate is not an issue, multi coats, special effects, and a host of other custom treatments become available with the use of Liqudi-Powder.
It is even possible to coat substrates that cannot handle the normal cure temperature, but can handle the very low melt temperatures of most powders. Then rather than fully curing, the coating can be protected with a final coat of Cilgen LTC™. Superior chemical and corrosion protection to standard Powder Coated parts is the result.
Mix 48% Liquid-Powder with 52% powder coating by weight. (ie 14.7oz Liquid-Powder to 16oz powder coating). Spray with an HVLP gun or airbrush with a nozzle 2mm or larger, at 60PSI.
One quart of Liquid-Powder will make up approx 1.5 quarts of sprayable liquid.
Liquid-Powder can be used to touch-up areas on a part that has been powder coated (by electrostatic or other method), but has an area that was missed or was damaged in handling:
- Repair of a damaged part can be accomplished by using a small touchup brush, toothpick, paperclip, etc… dipped into the Liquid-Powder and lightly applied to the damaged area, allow to dry then bake.
- This process can be used to fill small holes in parts as well. If the part has been fully cured a light sanding of the damaged area is recommended to give the repair a surface to hang on to.
